Obituary for Stanley Franov

Franov, Stanley
Ogden: Stan passed peacefully in the country of Malta, close to his native Croatian birthplace of Kali, on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at age 81. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and cousin. He is survived by his wife, Josephine; sons, Thomas (Siv) and Michael (Steven); grandson, Gavin; many dear friends and cousins around the world.
Stan was a unique kind of special person who bravely ventured from an orphanage in Italy to the United States when he was 15 to lead a life filled with love and adventure. He enjoyed science, history, soccer, football and nature. His generosity, positive outlook and loving nature and companionship will be greatly missed.
No prior calling. On Saturday morning, July 29, all are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 11:15 at St. Theodore’s Church, 168 Spencerport Road. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please perform an act of kindness in Stanley’s memory. To share a memory or send a family condolence, please mail to Josie or visit the funeral website at diponziofh.com.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful people who supported us while in Malta, including the doctors and staff at Mater Dei Hospital who cared for Stan. A very special thanks to MariaLaura Creal (Fantistica Italia), Carol Furst Matulonis (Be Happy Vacations) and Olivia Howell-Abel (Exclusively Malta) who assisted us tremendously with support, travel and lodging needs, and Barbara Seaman (Dr. Salamone’s office) with navigating international health insurance requirements while abroad during this difficult time.
