Obituary for Bette L. Morse (Elf)

Morse, Bette L (Elf) - Our beloved mother passed into eternal life at age 96 on November 9, 2020, at the Episcopal Church Home with her family at her side. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Edward in 2010, and her sister, Jane Lamb in 2016. She is survived by her five daughters, Judy (David) White, Kathy (Paul) Carcaci, Ellen Morse, Fran Morse and Barb (Vic) Rauscher, along with 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and those to whom she was like a mother.

Bette was a woman of many talents. A trained pianist, and a self-taught organist, her love of music was shared with her family, friends and church communities. Her greatest joy was playing the organ in her home each Christmas evening, while her whole family sang Christmas carols. She was a talented crafter, who was always willing to try new creative endeavors. She was also a gifted seamstress, making clothes for her girls, items for her church, as well as in her later years, creating over 400 dresses for girls in Africa. Through her craft work, she loved sharing her joy of making something with her hands, and then giving her creations to those around her. She also had a great love of the water, and enjoyed swimming well into her 90’s. Bette was always willing to volunteer her time and talents to her church and community, in too many ways to recount. Her life was too rich and full to convey. She has left us with an incredible legacy.

After a private visitation for family, her funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Theodore’s Church on Monday, November 16th at 9:30. Donations in Bette’s memory can be made to the Episcopal Church Home, 505 Mt. Hope Avenue, Rochester, NY 14620 or to Lifetime Care, 3111 S. Winton Rd., Rochester, NY 14623 in her memory.

Her family wishes to thank the amazing caregivers at the Episcopal Church Home on 2 North, and the hospice caregivers from Lifetime Care for the wonderful care given to Bette, ensuring her quality of life.
