Obituary for Eleanor Byrnes (Shultz)

Byrnes, Eleanor (Shultz)
Rochester: peacefully entered into her eternal home in heaven on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at age 98. Born on November 19, 1923, in Elba, NY. She is predeceased by her husband, Bernard Byrnes and grandson, Christopher Massaro. She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Angelo) Massaro and Michael (Tracy) Byrnes; grandchildren, Carrie Massaro, Emily Massaro, Travis (Sari) Byrnes and Ryan Byrnes; great grandsons, Cody and Duke.
She met her husband at Delco Products where she worked for 10 years. They were happily married for 74 years. Her advice to a long happy marriage was to always forgive one another. She had a deep love for her husband and family and always looked forward to spending time with them. Eleanor was a member of Holy Apostles Church. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, cooking, and baking cookies that she would share with her neighbors. She looked forward to celebrating any occasion that would bring her family together. For years, she attended the Christian Women’s Luncheon monthly where she would be a host and greet the ladies with a smile. She was always friendly and thankful for the people in her life and the life she had. Eleanor was a blessing to her family and friends by the life she lived with such love. She will be sorely missed.
No prior calling. On Wednesday, January 26, all are invited to attend her Funeral Mass at 9:30 at Holy Apostles Church (Lyell Ave. and Austin St.) Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to St, Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in her memory. A special thank you to Emma, Eleanor’s home health aide, and the nurses and doctors at Strong Memorial Hospital for the compassion and care that was given to Eleanor. It was deeply appreciated by her family.
