Greece: Peacefully with her son at her side on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at age 85. Predeceased by her loving husband, Erasmo “Ray” Leccese; father and mother, Giovannino and Giovina Dottore; sister, Sister Natalia Dottore; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Erasmo and Anna DiVasta, Sandra Leccese. She is survived by her son, Anthony J. Leccese; sister and brother-in-law, Giuseppina and Angelo Delle Monache; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Giuseppe Leccese, Vincenza and Antonio Anelli all of Italy; nephews and nieces, Antonio (Cristina) Delle Monache, Giancarlo (Irena) Delle Monache, Anthony (Janine) DiVasta, Raymond (Laurie) DiVasta, Maria Leccese; cousins, Sante (Andrea) DiCarlo, John (Nancy) DiCarlo, Maria (Jeff) Berl; many great nieces and great nephews.
She was born in Pollutri, Abruzzo, Italy where she learned to be a seamstress. She came to America where she met her husband, had a child and proudly became a US citizen. She brightened many lives in a small way while working at McCurdy’s, B. Foreman’s, and JC Penney’s doing alterations making others look and feel their best. She was a great baker especially known for her amaretti cookies. She enjoyed traveling and socializing with family and friends.
Friends may call Tuesday from 4-7PM at the DiPonzio Funeral Home, Inc., 219 Spencerport Rd., Gates. On Wednesday, July 6, all are invited to attend her Funeral Mass at 10:30AM at Our Mother of Sorrows Church. Entombment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Cure PSP (www.psp.org) or to St. Francis Food Pantry at Our Mother of Sorrows Church, 5000 Mt. Read Blvd., Rochester, NY 14612 in her memory.
