Obituary for Josephine "Aunt Peppa" Carvill (Tantalo)

Carvill, Josephine (Tantalo) “Aunt Peppa”
After reaching her 100th birthday in November, Josephine’s health declined, and she passed peacefully on January 17, 2021. Predeceased by her husband, James; six of her seven siblings; one nephew and three nieces. She is survived by her sister, Grace Tantalo; nieces, Agnes Winkler, Paula Dailey, Marie Tantalo (Susan Pearce); nephews, Paul J. Tantalo (Belinda) and William Maddison (Bonnie Booth); several grand, great grand and great great grand nieces and nephews. Also surviving are very special cousins, Michael Triassi (Vicki), Virginia Capostagno (Jerry) and Mary Jane Witkiewitz (Paul Sivret) as well as several other cousins, friends and neighbors.
Jo/Aunt Peppa was a force to be reckoned with right up to the end. She and her husband, Jim, lived in NYC for over 40 years where she started her career in banking. Graduating from Hunter College in NYC, she worked her way up to eventually become Assistant Vice President, Human Resources for Chase Bank before her retirement. She was an avid and accomplished Bridge player, world traveler, champion of Liberal politics and causes, always a “fashion plate”, role model and mentor, and a true Christian to her core.
No prior calling. On Wednesday, January 27, all are invited to attend her Funeral Mass at 11:00AM at St. Mark’s Church, 54 Kuhn Rd. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Andrew’s Fund, a non-profit fund that has been established for Josephine’s great grand nephew who is currently battling cancer.
