Obituary for Kathleen Ann Blom (Ligozio)

Blom, Kathleen A. (Ligozio)
Gates: Suddenly on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at age 77. Predeceased by her parents, Salvatore and Constance Ligozio. She is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Fred Blom; children, Kristin (Patrick) DiFlorio, Craig (Kendra) McDonough; stepdaughter, Vicki (Bruce) Genut; grandchildren, Ava, Lily, Gia and Briana; sisters, Joyce Chimera, Diane (Edward) Contini; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eric and Ginny Blom; many nieces and nephews.
Kathy was a loving and caring daughter, sister, mother, wife, and friend. As a young girl growing up in Rochester, there were many stories about her but one in particular demonstrated her personality. As a young teenager, she would go out to meet friends and boyfriends. Her mother never allowed the tight fitting jeans that were the style. Kathy would head out the door and down the street where she would stich up her jeans skin tight. Just before she got home, she would pull out the stiches and walk in with the loose fitting pants. Kathy was a fashionista her whole life. The style of clothing, hair and makeup had to be perfect.
She had fond memories of going fishing with her daddy, Sam. Kathy and her sisters didn’t have much patience as young girls when fishing. When they weren’t looking Sam would hook a fish onto her line and point out that she had a bite. She would be so excited that she had caught a fish. That memory was so prophetic later in life when she married a fisherman.
Connie and Sam instilled in her a strong belief in family. She lived her life caring about her large extended family. Her two children, Craig and Kristin, were the focus of her life. Kristin with her dancing, recitals and competitions and Craig with his playing youth, travel and high school hockey. They kept our family busy for many years.
Then both of her children began the journey into adulthood. Along the way they met life partners, got married, purchased a home or two and then the real blessing for Kathy…each has two daughters, Ava and Lily and Gia and Briana. They became the love and focus of Kathy’s life. She spent the rest of her life doting on those four girls. She retired for good just as Gia was born after a long career at Kodak and then a very happy decade at ADT. All she wanted was time to spend with the girls.
She was married to Fred for 32 years. The relationship evolved into a loving, caring partnership that withstood all the challenges that God presented in her final two years. Together Kathy and Fred worked hard to make each day count and to make the days happy.
