Rochester: Marion joined her beloved family members in heaven on Monday, November 7, 2022, at age 94. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, William Frank Petrella; precious daughter she loved so very much, Lorraine Jean Petrella-Reitter; her dear son-in-law, Garry Stephen Hanlon, Esq,; brother, Michael L. Gruttadauria; special nephew, Michael Gruttadauria; and “adopted” son, James Keith Baker. She is survived by her daughter, caregiver and best friend, Maria Sandra Petrella; her grandson, William T. Reitter, whom she adored most in the world and raised since he was orphaned at age 11; special niece and nephew, Leslie and Russ Licata; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Marion graduated with high honors from St. Rose’s Academy in Troy, New York. She worked as a photograph colorist at Rogers Photo Studio, and then on to Lincoln Rochester Bank as a keypunch operator. Marion went on to meet the love of her life, Bill, married him, and had two wonderful daughters who filled their lives with happiness and joy. The Petrella household was always open to friends and families, where Marion’s talents for cooking and entertaining were showcased for all to enjoy. No one ever left hungry and usually with a take home bag. Anyone who was fortunate enough to encounter Marion benefitted from her kindness, compassion, and love. Marion struggled with many health issues over the past several years with dignity and grace.
Friends may call FRIDAY from 4-7PM at the DiPonzio Funeral Home, Inc., 219 Spencerport Road, Gates. On Saturday, November 12, all are invited to attend her Funeral Mass at 9:30AM at St. Theodore’s Church. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Humane Society at Lollypop Farm, 99 Victor Rd., Fairport, NY 14450 (Marion was an animal lover), or to a charity of your choice in her memory.
