GATES – Monday, January 17, 2022, at age 85, after a long battle with kidney disease and Congestive Heart Failure. Predeceased by his wife, Dolores [Hertzel] Cognata; mother, Rose Cognata; father, Gaspare Cognata; sister, Marion Ross; brother, Anthony Cognata. Richard cherished his three beautiful grandchildren, Brittney and Blake Cognata, and Liani Johnson. He is survived by his daughter, Marie Cognata; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Suzanne Cognata; great grandson, Asher Dohr; many nieces and nephews.
No prior calling. On Thursday, January 20, all are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at The Parish of the Holy Family (St. Jude), 4100 Lyell Road. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Blake Cognata Foundation, 500 East Ave., Rochester, NY 14607 in his memory.
