Obituary for Rose Chambers (Zambuto)

Rose Vivian (Zambuto) Chambers, age 96, of Williamsburg, Virginia passed away peacefully on September 11, 2022, at Charter Senior Living of Williamsburg.

Rose was born in Rochester, NY to Angelo Zambuto and Frances Renna Zambuto, who immigrated from Sicily.

Rose never wavered from being a fully devoted wife, daughter, and sister. In addition, she was mutually beloved as a sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and relative to many and in a close circle of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman J. Chambers, her parents and 3 brothers: John Zambuto, Carl (& Marilyn) Zambuto and Al (& Lillian) Zambuto, nephew John E. Zambuto, niece Rose Marie Dobosz, as well as other sisters-in-law and many dear relatives.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Rita (John) Zambuto; nieces Debbie Dinnegan, Vicki Hemiup (Tom), Chrissy Zambuto and Patricia Zambuto; nephew, Brian Zambuto, and nephew-in-law, Michael Dobosz, as well as many other nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, other relatives and friends.

Rose will be remembered for her love of family, children and friends, her joy, beautiful smile, faith, musical talent, first-grade teacher popularity, innkeeper commitment, interest in travel and cooking skills. She and Norm were highly respected for their extensive beautiful in-home Christmas displays. Since Christmas was her favorite holiday her Colonial Williamsburg license plate on her red Mercury Grand Marquis was “MRYXMS”.

Rose was a member of St. Bede Catholic Church for 38 years and was grateful for continued assisted-living visits from the “Joy Ministry” volunteers and priests.

Rose received long-term professional nursing attention in the Morningside and Charter Senior Living of Williamsburg community. Rose was so very appreciative of the loving kindness provided by Niti and the many dear round-the-clock gentle and caring committed women from Nurturing Hearts N Care including Barbara, Xarina, Pam, Shirl, Carmen and others. Also, for the past decade, vital attention was provided by Dr. Majdic’s, Dr. Harding’s & Dr. Gilfillan’s excellent teams and more recently, many very helpful medical visits were provided by Amedisys Hospice.

Rose and Norm left their legacy with their close family members and among friends in Rochester, on Sanibel Island and in Williamsburg and will be very fondly remembered.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, VA, on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 9:00 am.

On Saturday, September 24, family and friends may call from 10:00-10:30AM at the DiPonzio Funeral Home, Inc., 219 Spencerport Road, Rochester, NY 14606, where her funeral services will follow at 10:30AM. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Section North 20, Lot 249.
