Gates: Peacefully, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 27, 2016, at age 77. Predeceased by his son, Rocco Messura; father and mother, Ralph and Rose Messura; brother, Joseph R. Messura; nephew, Joseph R. Messura, Jr. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Frances (Gianni) Messura; children, Ralph J. (Anita) Messura, Roseanne (Joseph) DiPonzio, Anthony (Mary) Messura, John (Carol) Messura; grandchildren, Gina (Daniel) Klips, Nicole (Mike) Burel, Dominic “DJ” DiPonzio (Liz Lucas) of FL, Joseph (Lindsay) DiPonzio of FL., Anthony Jr., Francesca and Sam Messura, John Jr., Joel and Gianna Messura; great grandchildren, Brianna, Liam and Rosie and soon to be born great grandson, Gunnar; sister, Kathleen (Philip) Greco, sister-in-law, Barbara Messura; many nieces and nephews. Ralph was a retiree of Wegman’s and a member of the Army 82nd Airborne. He loved attending all of his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Friends may call MONDAY from 3-7PM at the DiPonzio Funeral Home, Inc., 219 Spencerport Road, Gates. On Tuesday, January 3, 2017, all are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 9:30 in St. Theodore’s Church. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to St. Theodore’s Church, 168 Spencerport., Rochester, NY 14606, or to Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center c/o Lifetime Care, 3111 S. Winton Rd., Rochester, NY 14623 or to the Lipson Cancer Center, 1425 Portland Avenue, Rochester, NY 14621 in his memory. Ralph’s family would like to thank Dr. Anthony Suozzi and Dr. Ronald Sham for their loving and compassionate care.
