Carafice, Robert N.
Irondequoit: Friday, January 29, 2016, at age 72. Predeceased by his son, Joseph Santo Carafice; mother, Anna M. Fracassi; father, Santo J. Carafice; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph A. and Helen E. Hawkes. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Sheila Carafice; daughter, Mary Ellen Carafice (fiance, Brenton Chapman); sisters and brother, Janet (Sam) Camarata, Louis (Kathy) Fracassi, Maria (Fred) Costanza; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Anne and Ray Ruff, Peter Hawkes; many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Robert was a veteran of the U.S, Navy serving as a hospital corpsman, 2nd Class, from 1960-1964. He was a 1970 graduate of St. John Fisher College. From there, he worked at the U.S. Postal Service and was later employed from J.P. Morgan Chase from 1972-2005. He was a longtime Scouting Volunteer with Troop 220, Council Trainer, Woodbadge Course Director, and Massawepie Beaver Weekend volunteer for 27 years. He was a member of the Executive Board Otetiana Council, a Girl Scout Volunteer, and attended Dad and Me with Mary Ellen at Camp Beechwood for five summers. He also enjoyed bird carving, gardening and traveling. He was an avid runner completing 29 half marathons “Team Turtle”.
Friends may call FRIDAY from 4-8PM at the DiPonzio Funeral Home, Inc., 219 Spencerport Road, Gates. On Saturday morning, February 6, all are invited to attend his Funeral Mass at 9:30 in St. Theodore’s Church. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to St. John Fisher College Alumni Fund, 3690 East Ave., Rochester, NY 14618, Lipson Cancer Center, 1425 Portland Ave., Rochester, NY 14621 or to Seneca Waterways Council BSA, 2320 Brighton-Henrietta Townline Rd., Rochester, NY 14623 in his memory. “Life is Beautiful”.
